THE STORY 🗞️
AUSTIN, Texas. Texas led Ole Miss 24-3 at halftime. By the end, the Longhorns were holding on against an onside kick and a drive that reached their 29-yard line.
No. 18 Texas beat No. 7 Ole Miss 34-27 to snap a two-game losing streak, per USA Today. Ole Miss had stormed back to tie it 24-24, then recovered an onside kick with 1:20 left before the Texas defense finally got the stop.
Arch Manning was a mixed bag. He threw for 212 yards and a touchdown and ran for two more scores, but he also turned it over three times. On the other side, Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss went 25 for 52 for 250 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.
ORSAN WINS IT IN COLUMBIA 🎯
South Carolina beat No. 11 Tennessee 27-24 on Malik Orsan's 48-yard field goal as time expired.
LaNorris Sellers threw for 210 yards and ran for 96, with three total touchdowns. The winning kick was set up by a late sack-fumble that Durojaiye recovered.
Tennessee will look back at the flags. The Vols were penalized 12 times and had three touchdowns wiped out by penalties, according to Deadspin.
ELSEWHERE IN THE SEC 🐘
Alabama beat Texas A&M 31-20, closing with a 14-0 fourth quarter. Kentucky (5-1) and Georgia (4-1) sit on top of the conference race.
OUR TAKE 🐶
Texas needed this one badly, but blowing a 21-point lead at home is the part that sticks. Three turnovers from Manning nearly cost them a win they had wrapped up at halftime.
Tennessee beat itself as much as it lost. Three touchdowns erased by flags is hard to overcome anywhere, let alone on the road in the SEC.
THE BETTING ANGLE 🎯
Turnovers and penalties decided both of these games, which tend to be noisy from week to week. Look at how each team's underlying play compares with the final scores before reading too much into one Saturday. For our analysts' takes, follow DawgHouse Picks.
