THE STORY 🗞️
Eight matches in, Manchester City and Arsenal cannot be separated on points. Both have 21, and City sit top only on goal difference, +11 to Arsenal's +8.
This weekend could change that. City host third-placed Brighton on Saturday, and Arsenal travel to fourth-placed Liverpool on Sunday. If one wins and the other does not, the top spot has a clear owner going into November.
BRIGHTON BRING THE GOALS ⚡
Brighton are the awkward visitors. They are third on 16 points and have scored more goals than anyone in the league this season, which makes Saturday at the Etihad a real test for City rather than a routine home game.
ARSENAL AT ANFIELD 🔴
Liverpool are fourth on 15 points from eight games, with a record of 4-3-1 and a goal difference of +3. Their one league defeat came against City, a 3-0 loss on 11 October.
Sunday is a chance for Liverpool to close the gap on the top two and for Arsenal to win at one of the hardest grounds in the league. It is the biggest game of the weekend on both sides of the Atlantic.
CHELSEA VS UNITED 🔵
Saturday opens at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are fifth on 13 points, and Manchester United arrive in 16th with one win in eight and none in their last five.
OUR TAKE 🐶
Brighton might be the more dangerous fixture of the two for the leaders. They score goals, and City have to beat them before Arsenal even kick off at Anfield.
Liverpool need this one more than either team above them. A win would cut Arsenal's lead over them to three points, and a defeat would leave them nine behind.
