THE STORY 🗞️
Canelo Alvarez is a world champion again. The 36-year-old beat Christian Mbilli by unanimous decision in Riyadh on Saturday to win the WBC super middleweight title, with the judges scoring it 115-112, 116-111 and 117-110.
It was his first fight since losing to Terence Crawford in September 2025, and his first after elbow surgery. Mbilli came in unbeaten. Alvarez outlanded him 158 to 117, and a right uppercut late in the seventh round rocked Mbilli and swung the fight.

The fight fell on the 21st anniversary of his professional debut. On the undercard, Jaime Munguia kept his WBA title against Nikita Zon.
NOLAN STOPS MOICANO 🥋
In the UFC Fight Night main event at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, Tom Nolan beat Renato Moicano by TKO at 1:28 of the third round. Moicano took him down, Nolan reversed to the top and landed ground and pound, including elbows, until referee Dan Miragliotta stopped it.

A lot of people thought the Crawford fight was the end of Canelo at the top. Beating an unbeaten champion 13 months later, after surgery, says otherwise. Mbilli was game, but the uppercut in the seventh was the moment the fight went Canelo's way.
