THE STORY 🗞️
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. The first two games of this World Series were decided by a run. Game 3 was over by the fifth inning.
Milwaukee beat Tampa Bay 10-1 on Monday night and now leads the series 3-0. The Brewers are one win from the first championship in franchise history.
Robert Gasser carried it from the mound. He allowed one hit and faced the minimum through six innings, the first starter to do that in a World Series game since Curt Schilling in 2001. The last left-hander to manage it was Sandy Koufax in 1965.
THE FIFTH INNING 💥
The game turned with two outs in the fifth. Seven consecutive Brewers got a hit, which the club said had never happened in MLB postseason history, and all eight runs in the inning came after the second out.
Freddy Peralta, who used to pitch for Milwaukee, took the damage. He was charged with five runs in 4 2/3 innings.
Jackson Chourio had four hits and now has eight in three Series games.
"He was tremendous. Locked in. Gives us a big lift."
Brewers manager Pat Murphy on Chourio
Gasser said the crowd at Tropicana Field felt like a home game.
"Normally it's 35,000 against nine, but tonight we had 20,000 people behind us."
Robert Gasser
OUR TAKE 🐶
History is firmly on Milwaukee's side. All 25 teams that led a World Series 3-0 went on to win it.
Tampa Bay needs four straight wins, starting tonight at home, against a team that has now won close and won big in the same series. The Rays have not shown they can do either against this rotation.
