MLB · WORLD SERIES GAME 2 · Saturday 24 October 2026 · American Family Field, Milwaukee
Brewers 5, Rays 4 (Milwaukee lead the series 2-0)
KEY STATS 📊
Sal Frelick (MIL): game-tying solo homer leading off the sixth, 408 feet, his first career postseason home run
Cooper Pratt (MIL): go-ahead RBI single in the seventh off Kevin Kelly
Brice Turang (MIL): seventh-inning double, scored the winning run
Milwaukee bullpen: six scoreless innings after Logan Henderson allowed 4 runs in 3 innings
Aaron Ashby (MIL): third save of the postseason, now 15 2/3 scoreless innings over 8 appearances
Liam Hicks (TB): first postseason home run
THE STORY 🗞️
MILWAUKEE. Cooper Pratt's night started with an error that helped Tampa Bay score four runs in the first inning. It ended with Pratt driving in the run that put the Brewers two wins from a championship.
Brice Turang doubled in the seventh, and Pratt, the rookie shortstop, singled him home off Kevin Kelly to give Milwaukee a 5-4 lead. The Brewers' bullpen did the rest, and Milwaukee leads the World Series 2-0 heading to St. Petersburg.
The hole was deep early. Pratt's error opened the door in the top of the first, and Liam Hicks hit his first postseason homer as the Rays jumped to a 4-0 lead against Logan Henderson. Milwaukee answered right away, getting two back in the bottom of the first on RBI singles from William Contreras and Mitchell. They added another in the fourth.
FRELICK TIES IT, CHOURIO SAVES IT 🎯
Sal Frelick led off the sixth with a 408-foot homer to make it 4-4. It was the first postseason home run of his career, from a hitter with four homers in 339 regular-season at-bats.
The tie nearly lasted only a few minutes. In the top of the sixth, Hicks tried to score, and Jackson Chourio threw him out at the plate to end the inning. The call stood after a review.
From there it belonged to the bullpen. After Henderson gave up four runs in three innings, Milwaukee's relievers threw six scoreless innings. It was the bullpen's eighth win in the Brewers' nine wins this postseason.
ANOTHER ENDING THE RAYS WILL ARGUE ABOUT 🧐
Aaron Ashby had to work for the save. Jonny DeLuca doubled in the ninth and reached third, putting the tying run 90 feet away for the second straight night.
Yandy Diaz then struck out on a 3-2 check swing. On appeal, first base umpire James Hoye ruled that Diaz went around. Game over.
"In the moment, yeah, I disagreed. But the umpire said it was a swing and it is what it is. Ultimately, we lost."

Ashby now has three saves this postseason and has thrown 15 2/3 scoreless innings across eight appearances.
OUR TAKE 🐶
Two straight one-run wins, two straight endings with the tying run stranded at third. Milwaukee is not overpowering Tampa Bay. It is outlasting them, and a bullpen this reliable makes every early deficit feel survivable.
History is now firmly against the Rays. Only 10 teams have come back from 2-0 down to win the World Series, and the last was the 1996 Yankees. The Brewers have been here once before, in 1982, and lost in seven.
THE BETTING ANGLE 🎯
The Series moves to Tropicana Field, where the Rays clinched the ALCS. Keep an eye on how deep Milwaukee's starter goes in Game 3, because the bullpen has carried a heavy load across two tight games. For our analysts' takes, follow DawgHouse Picks.
UP NEXT: Game 3 is Monday 26 October at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Games 4 and 5 follow on Tuesday and Wednesday.
HOW TO WATCH 📺: Game 3 starts at 8:00 PM ET on FOX, with streaming on FOX One and Spanish on FOX Deportes. In the UK, it is at midnight on Monday night into Tuesday on TNT Sports.
